Choosing a Luton van comes down to one question. How will your heaviest items get on board? Both of our Lutons share the same tall, boxy body, yet they load in very different ways. As your local provider of van hire in Warrington, we keep both on the fleet, so this guide helps you pick the right one first time.
Choosing a Luton Van by How It Loads
A Luton body extends over the cab and gives a square load space with plenty of height. As a result, boxes stack neatly and furniture stands upright. The real difference between our two Lutons is how the load gets in and out.

The Tail Lift Option
Our Luton van with tail lift has a powered platform at the back. It raises appliances, solid furniture and heavy boxes to the load floor for you. Therefore, it suits most house moves, especially when you have few helpers.
The Low Loader Option
The Luton low loader van sits much closer to the ground. Instead of a lift, you roll items up a gentle ramp. So, it suits machinery, mobility equipment and anything on wheels.
When a Panel Van Fits Better
A Luton is not always the answer. If your load is long rather than tall, an extra long wheelbase van with 4.3 metres of load length may suit you better. In short, match the van to the shape of the load.
Licences and Collection
Both Lutons sit within 3.5 tonnes, so a standard car licence covers them, as the official GOV.UK licence categories confirm. Bring your photocard licence and a DVLA check code when you collect. Most vans need no deposit, and booking ahead brings an advance discount on selected vans, shown on our van hire special offers page.
Moving a ride-on mower or another wheeled machine? Our guide to transporting a ride-on mower covers loading and securing it in the low loader.
