XLWB van hire fills the gap when a standard panel van is too small but a lorry is more than you need. The extra long wheelbase gives a much longer cargo area than a standard long wheelbase van. As a result, it suits big house moves, oversized deliveries and trade jobs where volume matters most. For anyone considering van hire in Warrington for a large load, here is what it offers.
What Makes an XLWB Van Different
The longer wheelbase creates more usable floor space. So, long furniture, several beds and a large number of boxes fit in one trip. Our extra long wheelbase van offers a 4.3 metre load length.
It is still a 3.5 tonne vehicle. Therefore, a standard car licence covers it, as the official GOV.UK driving licence categories page confirms. Our post on what size van can I hire on a normal UK licence explains more.
Is It Hard to Drive
Most first-time hirers find it easier than expected. The controls match a standard van, and visibility from the cab is good. However, the extra length shows when reversing, so take a little more care in tight spaces.
When XLWB Van Hire Is the Right Choice
A three-bedroom house move is the classic job. Here, the extra length often turns two trips into one. It also suits items too long for a shorter van, such as a corner sofa, a king-size bed or sheet materials.
For businesses, it carries large multi-drop loads in one run. Our post on business van hire in Warrington covers commercial options.
Loading It Well
Put heavy items low and toward the bulkhead. Next, place lighter boxes on top and toward the rear. Then fill gaps with soft items and strap tall furniture. Our guide on how to load a hire van safely covers the full process.
Check Access Before You Book
An extra long van needs more room to turn. So, think about narrow streets and tight car parks at both ends. If access is very tight, a slightly shorter van may be the better choice.
