What Size Of Warrington Van Can I Drive On A Car Licence?
You can drive any van with a maximum gross weight of up to 3,500kg (3.5t) on a normal car driving licence. This includes vans such as the Ford Transit. If you wish to drive a vehicle that has a maximum gross weight between 3,500kg and 7,500kg (3.5t – 7.5t), then you will need category C1 on your driving licence. This permits you to drive 7.5t lorries, which are the largest kind offered by van hire companies. If you passed a driving test for a car before 1997, you should have C1 entitlement already. If you passed in 1997 or afterwards, then you will have to take a separate test to drive category C1.
