What to Bring When You Collect Your Hire Van from Our Warrington Depot

When you collect your hire van, a little preparation makes the handover quick and easy. First-timers often worry about what to bring and how long it takes. In fact, the process is simple, and arriving prepared means you drive away on time. This guide to the practical side of van hire in Warrington explains what to have with you at our Cockhedge depot.

The Documents You Will Need

The most important item is your photocard driving licence. The DVLA now holds licence records digitally, so you will also need a DVLA check code. You generate it online before you arrive, and it stays valid for a short time.

You can create one through the official GOV.UK view your driving licence service. In addition, our walkthrough on how to get your DVLA check code shows each step. Sorting it the night before saves a scramble at the counter.

Extra Drivers and Identification

If anyone else will drive, they need to come along with their own licence and check code. That way, we record every driver on the booking. It also helps to have a second form of identification with you, just in case.

How the No Deposit Policy Helps

Many people are surprised that most of our vehicles need no deposit. As a result, there is no large hold on your card. Still, arrive knowing your dates and roughly when you will return, so the hire is set up cleanly.

Finding the Depot and Timing Your Visit

We are on Tilley Street at the main entrance to Cockhedge Shopping Centre and Asda. There is secure parking on site, so you can leave your own car while you have the van. We open 8am to 4pm Monday to Saturday and close on Sundays.

An early start gives you the most from your hire day. Customers travelling from the Runcorn direction can also read our Runcorn van hire page.

Checking Things Before You Collect Your Hire Van

Use the handover well. First, walk around the van and note any existing marks. Next, adjust the seat and mirrors. Then find the lights, wipers, handbrake and fuel cap.

If the van is bigger than you are used to, note its height and length. Consequently, a low car park entrance or a tight turn will not catch you out. This is also the best moment to ask questions, while someone who knows the vehicle stands beside you.

Any Questions Before You Arrive

It is always better to ask before the day than to arrive missing something. Before you collect your hire van, call 01925 396 222, and we will talk you through what to bring. Alternatively, use the contact us page.
