Our May bank holiday offer is simple. Book selected vehicles at least two weeks ahead and you save 10% on the hire. May has two long weekends in England, so demand for vans rises twice in one month. If you plan van hire in Warrington for either weekend, book early. It is the easiest way to get the van you want for less.
How the May Bank Holiday Offer Works

The discount is our standard advance booking saving. It applies to selected vehicles, and the booking has to be at least two weeks before the hire starts. Just mention the offer when you ring, then book in good time and ask which vans qualify.
Because the saving is a percentage, it grows with the length of the hire. A two-day booking saves a little, while a four-day booking over the long weekend saves more. So if you are unsure whether you need the extra day, it can make sense to book it now. If your dates change later, ask the team how that affects the saving before you confirm.
The terms sit on our van hire special offers page. Because the list of selected vehicles can change, check it when you book rather than relying on last year. If the van you want is not on the list, we can suggest a similar one that is.
The offer is not limited to May, either. It runs all year on selected vehicles. Still, May is when it matters most, because two bank holidays fall close together and spare vans become scarce. Booking early protects both your saving and your choice of van.
Timing the May Bank Holiday Offer
The early May bank holiday falls on the first Monday of the month. After that, the spring bank holiday usually follows on the last Monday. Two long weekends in four weeks means the fleet stays busy for most of the month. The government publishes the exact UK bank holiday dates each year, so check them first. Then count back two weeks from the day you want to collect.
For the early May weekend, that means booking in mid-April. For the late May weekend, it means booking by the middle of the month. In practice, the earlier you book, the wider your choice. Luton vans and the larger panel vans go first, because house moves cluster around these dates.
What if you miss the two-week window? You can still hire, as long as a suitable van is free. You simply pay the standard rate instead. So even a late booking is worth a call, although the earlier one is better value.
Planning Around the Bank Holiday Monday
Our depot opens Monday to Saturday from 8am to 4pm, and we close on Sundays. However, a bank holiday Monday can change the usual pattern. So confirm your collection and return times when you book, rather than assuming.
Think about the return trip as well. Roads around the M6 and M62 junctions can be busy on the final afternoon of a long weekend. If you are travelling back from further afield, leave early and allow extra time. Returning the van on time keeps the whole hire simple, and it lets the next customer start their weekend too.
Most customers collect on the Saturday morning. That gives a full day of loading before the Sunday. If your job runs across the whole weekend, ask about a longer hire. We offer short term and long term hire, so a three or four day booking is no trouble to arrange.
Which Vans Suit a May Long Weekend
Spring jobs vary a lot. Garden projects need open loads, while house moves need volume. For long items such as timber or worktops, the extra long wheelbase van carries a 4.3 metre load length. That is enough for most lengths you will buy at a builders’ merchant.
For allotment and garden work, read our guide to van hire for allotment and garden season. Meanwhile, if your weekend is about clearing out, our May bank holiday tip run guide covers loading for the tip.
Making the Most of the Late May Weekend
The late May weekend often brings better weather and longer evenings. That makes it popular for moves, garden jobs and trips away with gear. Our guide to late May bank holiday van hire covers ideas for that weekend.
Whatever the plan, the May bank holiday offer applies in the same way. Book two weeks ahead, pick a selected vehicle and the saving follows. Customers across the area use it, including in Grappenhall. Our page on van hire Grappenhall covers the route in.
Collecting a May Bank Holiday Offer Van
Bring your photocard driving licence and a DVLA check code. Create the code the evening before, so it is fresh when you arrive. There is no deposit on most vehicles. You can also leave your car in our free secure car park while you have the van.
Every van we hire is 3.5 tonnes or under, so a standard car licence covers it. Our depot sits on Tilley Street at the main entrance to Cockhedge Shopping Centre. As a result, it is easy to reach from the M62, the M6 and the M56.
Bank holiday weekends book up quickly, so do not leave it late. Call the depot on 01925 396 222 to claim the saving on a selected van. Alternatively, use our contact us page to ask which vehicles qualify.
